About kids' events in Ridgewood
Ridgewood sits right on the Queens-Brooklyn line, and that in-between quality is part of what makes it feel grounded. The side streets are lined with early 20th-century brick townhouses, front stoops, and the occasional garden, so strolling around with a toddler feels genuinely calm compared to busier Brooklyn neighborhoods nearby. There are several neighborhood playgrounds within easy walking distance, including Grover Cleveland Playground, which has swings, play equipment, and a spray shower that kids love in summer. The Queens Public Library's Ridgewood branch on Madison Street has a dedicated children's room downstairs, which makes it a solid rainy-day option for a 1 to 4 year old. Getting here without a car is manageable. The M and L trains both serve the area, and the Myrtle-Wyckoff station puts you at Union Square in about 20 minutes. Bus routes also run along the main commercial strips. Right now there are 3 upcoming events in Ridgewood on this calendar. Creative Nature NYC and Ridgewood Dance Studio both have programming here, covering nature-based play and movement classes for the little ones. The neighborhood is quiet enough on weekday mornings that you actually notice other parents out with kids, which says a lot.
