As our performers advance in their artistic journey, WR Arts is at your child’s service in preparing for Middle and High School Performing Arts auditions. Our class time is dedicated to individual and small group audition video preparation and production, specializing in: Voice or Drama Preparation Individualized attention for students who wish to focus on technique & their specific needs This 12-week semi-private session will focus on NYC Performing Arts DANCE, Voice, or Drama High School preparation. Session 1 Participants for Rising 9th Graders, class time is dedicatedly focused on learning required routines, creating solos, and recording materials for submisssion. Session 2 participants, current 6th through 8th graders, will refine audition skills, explore required audition materials, and strengthen technique.

Drama is geared toward an older student looking to enter the world of Dramatic arts or young actors with little experience, looking to continue building their skills. Through Ice Breaker exercises, Improvisation and some scripted work students learn & fortify their stage presence, understanding of stage direction and vocal projection. This workshop will culminate in a presentation, either held in person or filmed for viewing. Location of class TO BE ANNOUNCED. Students will be escorted to this space AFTER attendance is taken at 56 Marcy Ave. Students MUST check in at the studio before heading to our secondary class space.

Progressing from our Creative Ballet foundation, Ballet I takes dancers to the next phase of learning. Additional ballet positions are appropriately integrated along with more challenging arm and leg skills standard in the technique. Dancers are introduced to the ballet barre during warm up and will develop their musicality while increasing their endurance, flexibility and strength through across-the-floor and center work. The Ballet I dancer’s self-expression and imagination is broadened as they’re led through themed sequences calling for creativity, presentational skills and ballet technique.

This is an intermediate level class for students with the focus, discipline and interest in progressing all of their dance techniques through a strong ballet base (minimum 2 years of ballet required). Students must be well behaved and show appropriate class etiquette. Class begins with a classic barre, followed by center work, across the floor, finishing with jumps and leaps. Dancers will be evaluated for consistency in their ability to remember and demonstrate all covered vocabulary. Each class will also support and strengthen dancers' creative and artistic performance quality, dynamics and musicality through conceptual based sequences aimed at enlarging the way they perform dance technique (or steps). Standards and curriculum become more challenging and increasingly complex over the session/year.

Pre Pointe prepares students with 2+ years of Ballet training &/ or a strong visible ability for Pointe work. The session focuses on strengthening and preparing the youngest participants, while continuing conditional training of older students working En Pointe. Younger students will work in ballet slippers &/ or Demi pointe shoes. Older students that show physical readiness will be assessed by the instructor to determine the type of pointe shoe they may wear (Demi or Full). Note- This is for the serious, self motivated ballet student interested in challenging and expanding their knowledge. Dancers will be asked to execute more complex sequences, diligently work on increasing flexibility, strength and the ability to self-correct as well as well thought out artistic decisions and performance execution. Standards and curriculum become more challenging and increasingly complex over the session/year.
