Ages 1 - 5 Come and play with our sets of toy trains and tracks. Make new friends. A fun sensory program!

Suit up, planet protectors, ages 8–12! In this hands-on four-part series, participants will explore plastics, composting, textiles, and electronic waste while learning simple ways to reduce waste and protect the planet. Workshop Lineup: • Unpacking the Backpack – Explore school favorites like water bottles and notebooks through life-cycle mapping and group debates. Master the basics of reduce, reuse, and recycle. • Plastics & Metals – Uncover how plastics pollute oceans and metals can be recycled to save energy. Kids sort real items, role-play journeys, and brainstorm reusable swaps. • Food & Clothing – Learn composting magic with food scraps and give old T-shirts new life. Design zero-waste lunch plans and explore sustainable textile ideas. • Electronics & Zero Waste Future – Dive into e-waste dangers, safely explore gadget parts, and build cool recycled models while planning real recycling drives. By the end of the series, children will gain confidence, creativity, and practical eco-skills that last a lifetime — turning “trash” into real solutions! Presented by Livia Fleming, environmental educator and food scientist. This program is offered through a Westchester Library System environmental literacy grant, funded by Con Edison Strategic Partnerships.
