What Students Will Explore Ready to take robotics to the next level? Join Robofun's FIRST LEGO League Challenge team for a season of competitive robotics, engineering, coding, research, and teamwork! In the BIOGLOW season, students will work together as a real robotics team to explore biodiversity and develop innovative solutions to real-world problems. Using LEGO SPIKE Prime, students will design, build, and program an autonomous robot while developing strategies to complete missions in the FIRST LEGO League Robot Game. But the Robot Game is only part of the challenge. Students will also research a real-world problem connected to biodiversity and develop an Innovation Project with a creative solution. Throughout the season, students will prepare across all four areas of FIRST LEGO League Challenge: Core Values, Innovation Project, Robot Design, and Robot Game. As the competition approaches, practices will become increasingly focused on robot reliability, mission strategy, presentations, teamwork, and mock judging. Students will have the opportunity to experience what it's like to work as part of a competitive robotics team while developing valuable skills in programming, engineering, communication, creativity, and collaboration. 🤖 Robot Design & Engineering: Design, build, test, and improve an autonomous LEGO SPIKE Prime robot. 💻 Programming: Develop and refine programs that allow the robot to complete missions autonomously. 🎯 Robot Game Strategy: Explore the BIOGLOW missions, develop strategies, build attachments, and practice timed runs. 🌎 Innovation Project: Research a biodiversity-related problem and develop an innovative solution. 🧠 Problem-Solving & Iteration: Test ideas, learn from failures, and continuously improve the team's designs. 🤝 Teamwork & Core Values: Learn how successful teams communicate, collaborate, and support one another. 🏆 Competition Preparation: Practice presentations, mock judging, robot runs, and competition strategy in preparation for the team's FIRST LEGO League event. Important Competition/Event Information: The exact date and location of the team's Challenge competition are determined by FIRST LEGO League event organizers and may not be available when enrollment opens. The initial program and tuition run through February 1. The official competition/event registration fee is not included in the initial tuition and will be charged separately once the event information and fee are available. If the official competition occurs after February 1, additional practices may be scheduled and an additional fee may apply. If the team advances to additional levels of competition, additional practices, coaching, and/or competition-related fees may also be required. Families will be notified of any additional costs before the extended program begins.

Python is one of the most popular and user friendly coding platforms. It is an interpreted, high-level, and general-purpose programming language. Python is often used as a “scripting language” for web applications. Consequently, Python is often used in software applications, pages within a web browser, the shells of operating systems, and some games. In this class, students will learn the basics of this incredible coding language. They will learn to design dice simulators, mad libs generators, text-based adventure games, and similar types of projects. They will have learn both a valuable programming language and have a great time in the process!

Minecraft & Circuits for 1st-6th Grade

Students will use the beloved and popular Minecraft platform as a gateway to learning about the properties of electricity. In Minecraft, they will design machines that use pistons, levers, buttons, traps, and combination locks. They do this by using the game’s version of circuitry (called “Redstone”) to power buildings with floors, walls, and doors that open and close. Students learn principles of circuitry and simple machinery while having fun. Our STEM Education Difference: Our core educational philosophy centers around an intimate interaction with our students. Because we know that each child learns differently and at their own pace, our 'mentors' assess and monitor your child's skill level; each class they take is matched with their skill and interests. Our curriculum and mentors focus on mastering current skills then challenge each student to get to a higher level. Regardless of which class they take, or how many times they have taken it, our students do not repeat previous projects - they are always challenged and when they are ready they work on a new and interesting assignment.

What Students Will Explore Join Robofun's FIRST LEGO League Explore team and embark on an exciting season of building, coding, engineering, creativity, and teamwork! In the BIOGLOW season, students will journey into the rainforest to explore biodiversity and discover how animals adapt to and interact with their ecosystems. Working as a team, students will design and build unique LEGO creations, experiment with motors and coding, test their ideas, and bring their creations to life using LEGO SPIKE Essential. Throughout the season, students will develop their engineering and problem-solving skills while learning how to collaborate, share ideas, and communicate their designs. Students will also document their work in Engineering Notebooks and prepare a team model and presentation to share what they've learned with families and other FIRST LEGO League teams. The season culminates in an Explore Festival , where students have the opportunity to celebrate their hard work, share their creations, talk with reviewers about their designs, and experience the excitement of being part of the FIRST LEGO League community. 🌱 Biodiversity & the Rainforest: Explore the BIOGLOW season theme and discover how living things interact with their environments. 🤖 LEGO Robotics: Build creative LEGO models and learn how to motorize and program their creations with SPIKE Essential. 💡 Engineering & Problem-Solving: Design, test, improve, and redesign solutions as a team. 📓 Engineering Notebooks: Record ideas, designs, discoveries, and the team's engineering journey. 🗣️ Communication & Teamwork: Practice explaining ideas and working together as a team. 🏆 Festival Preparation: Prepare a team model and presentation to showcase the team's work at an Explore Festival.
