About this event

Join us in the Children's Room of the Morrisania Library for our weekly Craft Corner! Celebrate the vibrant culture and traditions of Hispanic Heritage Month at the library! Join us for a fun, hands-on craft session where we’ll learn about the history of Papel Picado—the traditional Mexican folk art of intricate cut-paper banners used in celebrations. Learn the History: Discover how Papel Picado is made and what its colorful designs represent in different cultural celebrations. Get Creative: Practice using simple folding and cutting techniques (or safety-punch tools for younger crafters) to transform colorful tissue paper into beautiful, geometric banners. Take Home Your Art: String your custom paper flags together to make a festive garland to decorate your room or home! All materials will be provided. Just bring your creativity and enthusiasm to celebrate! No registration required.
