About this event

This unique mixed-age class is the perfect beginning of you little ones' music journey! It encourages them to discover a fun musical world while building confidence, self-control & communications skills. We sing, imitate sounds, use visuals, identify beats, learn all about different instruments and get to experience them and play them too! All while exposed to different genres of music from around the world. It gives them a chance to discover their inner musician while learning vocabulary, fine and gross motor skills, timing & spatial awareness. Storytime encourages emergent literacy skills, and our live guitar jam always ends the class on a high note! If you our your child is not feeling well, please send us a text (917) 399-8770 or email 24 hrs before your class so we can free the space for someone else on the waitlist. And when you're ready to schedule your make up please feel free to reach out. Thank you!

YAY! We're so excited for our Millburn @ Taylor Park. A Sound Start Music Class. Ages: 0 mo - 5 yrs + Caregiver 1. Bring a blanket to sit on the grass. You are welcome to bring any instrument you have at home and/or homemade instruments (a jar with beans/rice or a bucket/container with lid for a drum), harmonica, kiddie guitar, shakers, maracas, etc. We also have sanitized instruments to share in class :) * Make Up Policy: If you or your child are not feeling well, please email info@asoundstart.com or text us (917) 399-8770 24 hours BEFORE Class to schedule a make up. ProtoToto is a design and architecture studio for kids who love to draw, build, and make things. In the same way that a theater program is the right fit for a kid who loves to perform, ProtoToto is perfect for kids who gravitate toward art and making — if your child lights up with a Posca pen, cardboard, or tape in hand, this is their kind of after-school program. Here, kids learn to think and create like designers and architects. It's a hands-on, playful, and experimental way to explore how our built environment works — the objects, buildings, information, and stories that shape everyday life. Along the way, kids develop real-life skills: creative problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking. They leave more confident and more comfortable taking on open-ended challenges. Every session is different. Some weeks we experiment with materials — clay, cardstock, wire — to test new design approaches. Others we turn to fundamentals: sketching, prototyping, and craft. We toggle between 2D design and 3D building, thinking about how objects hold weight, how people move through space, and what makes something functional. And some weeks we put on our inventor hats, using design thinking to tackle real-world needs and pitch ideas like young entrepreneurs. Activities range from structured and technical to open-ended and expressive, yet always hands-on , and always playful . (Kids enrolled in more than one day a week always get a new project.)
