French-language sewing course for children, teaching the basics of sewing their own clothing such as pants, skirts and dresses. Beginner and intermediate level.
LLS - Clinton Hill · Fort Greene
Sewing is a meditational act, a portal to creativity and self-expression. How wonderful would it be to make your own garments instead of buying them at the store? It has always been such a gift for Liza to be able to sew her own garments, choosing the fabric, the style, and the design. Liza's biggest inspiration is her mother who sewed dresses for her and her sister when they were young. We will explore questions such as: How are fabrics made? Where do they come from? What are natural and synthetic fabrics? What products from nature can be used to dye fabric? How can we reuse a piece of fabric to create a new garment? How do we measure our bodies to make sure that the clothing fits properly? This course will be taught in French.
