About this event

Join us for an author talk and giveaway! Madeleine Chin is a high school freshman, author, and the founder of Mindful Reading Inc. She has been featured on FOX 5, PIX11, and Junior Scholastic. In this session, she will talk about her own writing journey, how she got started publishing books as a kid, and why it matters for youth to find their voice and help others. Following the presentation, participants will get to make slime and design their own bookmarks. To wrap up the afternoon, every participant will receive a brand-new free book to take home.

Kickoff to Kindergarten is a fun, free program for children ages 3-4 and their caregivers. The program enables children to develop their early literacy skills and begin a lifelong love of reading! Parents and caregivers are guided to become confident in their ability to support their child’s development following a curriculum aligned with the Science of Reading. Classes, which meet once a week (8 sessions in all), will focus on learning about dialogic reading techniques that can be used when sharing books with little ones. We’ll also have fun with a storytime that includes tips for promoting literacy at home, and so much more!
