About this event
Conor Grennan, founder and CEO of AI Mindset and former Chief AI Architect at NYU Stern, joins his son Finn, a St. Luke’s student and member of the school’s AI Council. Together, they’ll share their real-world experiences and perspectives on how families can navigate AI thoughtfully, responsibly, and together. During the program, families will learn more about what kids are encountering with AI, how parents can decide when and how AI should be used, and ways parents and children can learn together. Conor and Finn will also explore how parents can help young people use AI responsibly, thoughtfully, and with appropriate guidance. This program is designed for middle and high school parents and their children. It is presented in partnership with New Canaan CARES and New Canaan Library. Join Miss Dajana for a 8-week Twos Storytime series with songs, rhymes, felt-board stories, and special books and activities! This class is for those who are 24-36 months old with a caregiver. This series will be strictly capped at 15 families. Please do your best to attend the complete 8-week session. An alternate Twos Storytime will be offered on Thursday and Friday. Please do not register for this class if you are registered for the Thursday or Friday's class. All participants must be 2 years old by the first class in the series.

Read with Brody the Dog for Grades K-5

Join Brody (the dog) and Brody's caretaker Ann (the human) as kids get a chance to read with them one-on-one for 15 minutes. Kids in grades K-5 are welcome to bring a book or choose one from the Library. Parents are asked to wait in the Children's Room while their child enjoys reading together with Brody. Register one child per slot; please only register for one slot, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30, or 4:45 PM. Slots full? Email Miss Rebecca (rfox@newcanaanlibrary.org) to join the waitlist. Reading to a therapy dog is a proven and effective way to help children improve literacy and communication skills. Reading aloud to a specially trained, calm, and nonjudgmental dog creates a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere where children feel comfortable and uninhibited, leading to increased confidence and reduced stress. These positive effects support stronger reading development and communication abilities. Therapy Dog Brigade’s specially trained and certified therapy dogs, volunteering alongside their owner-handlers, visit schools, libraries, and other community settings to provide a safe and supportive space for young readers, inspiring them to enjoy reading and grow into lifelong learners.

Join Miss Rebecca for the Book Babies (Walkers) Storytime series with songs, rhymes, bounces, and a special book! This class is for those who are 12-23 months old with a caregiver. Depending on your baby’s nap time, please also see the 10:45 a.m. Wednesday storytime. REGISTRATION FOR THIS CLASS IS FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL DATE. Please pick the days you are available and sign up for those dates. Please do not register for this class if you are registered for the 10:45 a.m. Wednesday Book Babies Pre-Walkers classes. This storytime takes place in the Community Room and is a large class.
