About this event

We’re inviting the whole family to an evening of games, ghouls, and pumpkins galore! Visit the library surrounded by a field of frightening and funny pumpkins carved by community members, stick around for a children’s concert at 4:30pm, hop around in our Halloween bouncy castle between 4:00pm-5:30pm, and enjoy the treats we’ve prepared for all you tricksters. Wear your best costume and get ready for a night you won’t forget! We count on community creativity for this event and if you and your family would like to help carve the pumpkins for this year’s event, please use this form to reserve a pumpkin or to let us know you’re donating a pumpkin for the night. Family Science Night is the place for kids of all ages and their families to work together –– learning about science through sometimes slimy, sometimes spooky, sometimes explosive, but always FUN activities, crafts, and experiments! This month, we’re celebrating everyone’s favorite local star – the sun! Learn all about the sun and its amazing solar powers with some bright, shining activities! Registration is required for this program, and the event is limited to twelve children. Please note: This event requires at least three attendees to run. If fewer than three participants have registered within 48 hours of the event, it will be postponed and participants will be notified via email. Registration opens 30 days before the start of the event.

DFPL Visits Constitution Island

Join DFPL as we visit one of our local historic treasures for Rev250! We will be visiting Constitution Island for a two-part tour: A walk to the ruins of the Revolutionary War fortifications and a tour of the Warner House, former residence of two popular 19th Century writers, Susan and Anna Warner. The house has recently been restored to its original condition and contains a remarkable collection of furniture and artifacts. Docents on site will provide the tours, and local historian, Ronnie Coffey will also be on hand to talk about the island’s history. Our group will be meeting at the gate at the far end of the Metro North parking lot in Cold Spring promptly at 10:45am. A shuttle will then transport us to the island for the tours. Each tour lasts a little less than an hour. Following the tours, we will be able to visit the gift shop, walk the gardens, and picnic on the grounds. This visit is free of charge to registrants courtesy of the library. Registration is required. Families are welcome to register but all children must be at least six years of age. Please wear comfortable shoes as there will be walking, uneven terrain, and stairs in the historic home. Registrants are encourage to bring a bag lunch to enjoy on the property. Bottled water and cookies will be available in the gift shop for a small donation.
