About this event
Join us at the Greenpoint Library for kids' time in our rooftop garden! We will do a short garden-themed storytime, and then spend time together in the garden. The garden offers many sensory experiences for young kiddos, and we will set up some fun activities as well. For ages 0-5. No registration required. This program may be cancelled in the event of rain or extremely high temperatures. Please be advised that the garden gets lots of very bright sun; we recommend bringing hats and/or other forms of sun protection.
Join us for baby storytime! We will read some books, sing some songs, do some bounces and tickles and all sorts of fun things with our babies! Tickets are required and will be distributed on a first come, first served basis at the information desk.* Caregiver and Child must be present to receive a ticket . *This is a lapsit storytime for infants who are not yet walking. Walking toddlers should attend the Toddler Time programs on Wednesdays!

Disney's The Lion King has captivated the imagination of audiences around the world, and now you have the opportunity to produce this one-of-a-kind musical in your community. Bring the African savanna to life on your stage with Simba, Rafiki and an unforgettable cast of characters as they journey from Pride Rock to the jungle and back again in this inspiring, coming-of-age tale. The Lion King KIDS features classic songs from the Broadway musical and animated feature film, including “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” “He Lives in You,” and “Hakuna Matata.” Young performers will also get the chance to learn a wide range of new theatrical skills—such as mask-making and puppetry—encouraging them to explore this beloved story with creativity and pride. Role placement is held on the first day of the workshop through an audition process. Every child receives a role and is involved; there are lead characters, supporting, and ensemble. Class time is rehearsal time - students are expected to practice and memorize lines throughout the week so that they come prepared to rehearse during class. Please note this class only meets on Saturdays, except for Tech rehearsal & Performance. A title known the world over, Elf The Musical JR. is a must-produce holiday musical that can easily become an annual tradition for any theatre. Based on the cherished New Line Cinema hit, Elf JR. features songs by Tony Award-nominees, Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin, with a book by Tony Award-winners, Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin. Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa's bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa's permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh reality that his father is on the naughty list and that his half-brother doesn't even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas. This modern-day holiday classic is sure to make every young performer embrace his or her "inner elf" with plenty of large ensemble numbers featuring elves and (New Yorkers) of every type.
