A Rosie Day · Williamsburg

Embark on a musical odyssey with Global Kids Music! Led by musician and early childhood specialist Sagit Shir , this unique journey takes your little ones through the vibrant rivers of the Congo, the playful playgrounds of Mexico City, and the enchanting streets of Paris. Through captivating storytelling , Sagit seamlessly weaves together songs, nursery rhymes, and lullabies from cultures around the world, creating an immersive, adventure-filled experience. Your child will be introduced to multiple languages, fostering a deep appreciation for global diversity and musical heritage from an early age. Why Expose Your Child to Multiple Languages? Studies show that children who learn multiple languages during their critical early years develop stronger linguistic, cognitive, and social-emotional skills, setting a foundation for lifelong learning and adaptability. What parents are saying about Global Grooves: "Sagit is the baby whisperer, she has my 8 month old mezmorized" "I like how relaxing the class is but also really engaging. Most baby music classes are overstimulating but Global Grooves is my favorite class." "Our daughter has truly blossomed in wonderful ways during Sagit’s class. Her warm and thoughtful approach, along with her creative teaching methods have made a huge impact on our daughter!" "Sagit curates a fun and memorable mix of songs from around the world, introducing the kids to a wide range of musical styles, rhythms, and languages in a way that feels joyful and accessible. The class is playful but also thoughtfully structured, and it is clear how much care goes into each session. The energy she creates is upbeat and welcoming. Can't recommend it highly enough!"

CLASS DESCRIPTION: Focusing on the Caribbean’s rich history, students will dive into the different artistic traditions that make up the regions’ multiple cultures. We will begin by focusing on native Caribbean sculptures to then addressing the Spanish arrival in the 15th century. We will take a look at the Caribbean during the Age of Exploration with the increasing impact of African influences and the emergence of Afro-Caribbean culture. We will approach the work of modern artists such as Carmen Herrera and perhaps create a family friendly, Wilfredo Lam inspired project. THE STUDIO: Art-intensive, with a focus on multi-media art making and history learning. Students will gain confidence in their art skills as they work with quality art materials and build their own miniature worlds. Each class includes a topical or historical lesson, followed by project led art-making time. We teach history through art! Our afternoon workshops are supplemental learning sessions to your child's education, as we add geography and history to all of our art classes. A Short History of Cuba (grades 2-5) | Wednesday, Fall 2026

Wed, Sep 16 · 3:00 PM

Goose Grease House | Studio A · Williamsburg

CLASS DESCRIPTION: Focusing on the island of Cuba, we’ll learn as much as we can about its history in a semester. We’ll look at the Natives that were in the Caribbean when the Spaniards arrived, as well as going into shipping and piracy in the Age of Exploration. We will continue into Spanish colonization and hopefully end by briefly studying the Cuban Revolution, with figures and events such as Che Guevara, Fidel Castro, J. F. Kennedy, Bay of Pigs and the Cuban Missile Crisis, being our key milestones. Our main project will be a build of the old city of Havana, perhaps including an old car. We will also look at Cuban art, literature, music, and musical instruments. THE STUDIO: Art-intensive, with a focus on multi-media art making and history learning.
