About this event

Introduce your child to the exciting world of robotics, engineering, and coding with VEX GO Robotics ! Designed for elementary school students, this hands-on STEM class encourages creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork through engaging engineering challenges. Using the VEX GO Robotics System, students build and program a variety of robots while exploring real-world engineering concepts. Through fun, project-based activities, they learn how simple machines work, develop mechanical building skills, and discover how sensors, motors, and mechanisms work together to solve problems. Students bring their creations to life using VEXcode , a beginner-friendly block-based programming platform that introduces coding concepts in an engaging and accessible way. As they design, test, and improve their robots, they also learn the Engineering Design Process, computational thinking, and problem-solving strategies used by real engineers. Each lesson presents a new challenge that encourages students to collaborate, think creatively, and apply STEM concepts in a fun and supportive learning environment. Students will: Build and engineer robots using the VEX GO Robotics System Learn the fundamentals of coding with VEXcode block programming Explore simple machines, gears, motors, and sensors Develop engineering, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills Practice teamwork, communication, and creativity Gain confidence through hands-on STEM projects No prior robotics or coding experience is required. This class is perfect for students who are ready to explore engineering and robotics through interactive, hands-on learning. *Make-ups and cancelations: For semester registrations only one make-up class per month is allowed with a 24hr cancellation notice. Late cancellation fee: If a client provides less than 24 hours notice and wishes to schedule a makeup class, 50% of the class fee will be charged and processed through their Sawyer account. The VEX IQ Competitive Team is designed for students who are ready to take their robotics skills beyond the classroom and participate in high-level competition. This program is intended for students who demonstrate strong technical ability, problem-solving skills, teamwork, and the motivation to continuously improve throughout the season. Students work together to design, build, program, and optimize a competition robot while learning advanced engineering concepts, coding techniques, strategic thinking, and effective team collaboration. Team members are expected to take an active role in the engineering design process, testing, troubleshooting, and preparing for tournament competition. Competitive Team students will: Design, build, and program a VEX IQ competition robot Develop advanced skills in robotics engineering, coding, and problem-solving Learn game strategy, robot optimization, and competition preparation Collaborate with teammates to solve complex engineering challenges Maintain engineering documentation and participate in team planning Compete in 4–6 local VEX IQ tournaments throughout the season Pursue qualification for and compete at the New Jersey State Robotics Championship This program is ideal for students who are committed to developing their robotics skills at a competitive level and are ready to take on greater responsibility within a team environment. Coding with Python Level 2: In this course, students will step away from the block coding style implemented in Level 1 and step into the world of Python where they will begin to take full control of their code. Python is an entry-level programming language that is used almost everywhere giving students the ability to grow further after this course. Students will be taught the many aspects of coding. such as what a code really is and how to think like a programmer. Designed for first-year VEX IQ students, this program focuses on building a strong foundation in engineering, coding, problem-solving, and teamwork while introducing students to the structure and excitement of robotics competitions. Students will learn how to design, build, and program VEX IQ robots while developing the technical and collaborative skills needed for future competitive success. The emphasis is on learning, growth, and skill development in a supportive team environment.
