About this event

Art Lab Days: Wednesdays, September 16th to December 23rd Ages: 6-9 years old Time: 3pm-6pm PS 84, CE Montessori & Arbor Pickup Available Hands in the clay, threads on the loom, and beads on a real handmade necklace! Art Lab is a tactile, process based after-school built around fiber arts, mixed media, and jewelry making, with sculptural clay work woven through the whole semester...we have our very own kiln!! Each week pairs a short tactile warm up with extended studio time exploring hand building clay, hand stitching, mixed media painting, and paper sculpture. We love tying our projects back to artists working in these same mediums across New York City right now, so your young artist can see how the skills they're building connect to a whole world of working studios across the city. Pieces stay with us through the semester, building toward a true family showcase. When the last piece is glazed, woven, or assembled, your artist walks their own family through the gallery they helped install and finished by their own hands. This is not a craft kit project, it's real studio practice, paced for curious hands and growing confidence. Schedule School Pickup (included!): PS 84 and CE Montessori, at no extra charge Arbor Pickup (additional charge): we have a dedicated teacher pick-up your child and order an Uber/Lyft to get your artist from Arbor to the studio safely, so a small added fee of $65 per semester applies to cover costs. Program: 3pm- 6pm Flexible Pickup: collect your artist any time between 5-6pm. Please note, we follow the NYC DOE calendar, with the semester closing out in our Winter Showcase on December 22. 💛

Family Sundays || Open Studio

A Rosie Day · Williamsburg

Family Open Studio: Sundays at A Rosie Day All ages welcome | 9am to 1pm | $30 per child, one adult free Sundays just got a whole lot more creative! Family Open Studio is a relaxed, come-as-you-are morning designed for the whole family to slow down, make something beautiful, and actually enjoy it together. Whether you are 1 or 81, there is something waiting for you at the studio. Babywearing parents, you belong here, too. Come as you are, baby and all, and join our warm and welcoming creative community. Our studio is designed with families in mind at every stage, from the tiniest newborns riding along in a carrier to the biggest kids who take over the clay table. This is exactly the kind of place you have been looking for. Grandparents, this one is especially for you too. There is nothing quite like making something side by side with a grandchild, and we have saved you a seat at the table. This is not just for the kids. Parents, grandparents, caregivers, babywearing families, and the creatively curious are all warmly invited to dig in alongside the little ones. Pick up a paintbrush, string some beads, tear into a collage, or get your hands into clay. There is no skill level required and no pressure to produce anything perfect. Just good materials, good company, and a Sunday well spent. What Is on the Table Every Family Open Studio session features a rotating spread of materials and activities for all ages and interests: Beading: String, sort, design, and create. Beading is endlessly satisfying for little hands and big ones alike, and a wonderful way to make something wearable and personal. Collage: Dive into our curated collection of papers, textures, and found materials to build layered, expressive works. Great for all ages and endlessly surprising. Painting: Open painting with a variety of tools, surfaces, and mediums. Follow your instincts, experiment freely, and see where the color takes you. Printmaking: Stamps, stencils, block printing, and more. Printmaking is one of those magical processes where every press of the block reveals something new and exciting. Kids go absolutely wild for it, and adults always get hooked too. Repeat a pattern, layer your colors, or make one bold statement print to bring home. Clay and Kiln Firing: Work with real clay to build, pinch, coil, or sculpt something entirely your own. Once your piece is fired in our in-house kiln, you have two wonderful options: pick it up the following Sunday at Family Open Studio just as it is, or come back to paint and glaze it for a second firing and take home a fully finished, one-of-a-kind keepsake. Either way, you are leaving with something made by your own hands right here in the studio...and together! Why A Rosie Day Is Made for Families We did not just build an art studio. We built a home for families who believe that creativity is one of the most powerful things they can share with their children. From the moment you walk in, you will feel it: the colors, the warmth, the smell of paint and possibility, and the sound of people making things together. Every detail of this space was designed with you in mind, whether you are chasing a toddler, babywearing a newborn, or sitting across from your grandchild for the first time with a lump of clay between you. Most art classes are for kids. This one is for everyone. Family Open Studio is built around the idea that creativity does not have an age limit, and that some of the best moments happen when families make things together side by side. You might find yourself more absorbed than your kids. That is completely normal, and we love to see it. Come for one Sunday or come every week. Each session is its own adventure, and this community will be waiting for you every time. Good to Know Open to all ages, from newborns in carriers to grandparents at the collage table. Everyone is welcome here. Sessions run 9am to 1pm every Sunday. Cost is $30 per child. One accompanying adult is always free. Additional adults are $10 Advance booking is required through Sawyer. Space is limited and Sundays fill up fast. Clay pieces are fired in our in-house kiln and available for pickup the following Sunday at Family Open Studio. Families are also welcome to return to paint and glaze their piece for a second firing and a fully finished result. Dress for mess! We love a good creative moment, and things will get beautifully messy. See you Sunday!

(TUESDAYS 18-23 MOS) Move & Make

A Rosie Day · Williamsburg

(TUESDAYS 18-23 MOS) Move & MAKE Ages: 18 to 23 months, with a grown-up Schedule: Tuesdays, 9:30 – 10:30 AM (enroll one day or for all!) Season: September 15 – December 15, 2026 Sessions: 13 Tuesdays (closed 11/3 & the week of Nov 23–27) Our tiniest movers are always on the go, so we move with them. This class blends gentle toddler yoga with the warm, hands-on sensory art A Rosie Day is known for. We stretch tall like sunflowers, sway like trees, crawl like busy squirrels, and breathe like the wind, and then we bring all that movement to the art table for squishy, colorful, wonderfully messy creating. Here is how we break up the hour, and why it works so well for little ones. We always begin on the mat with movement. Starting with yoga helps our busy bodies shake out their wiggles, tune into themselves, and settle into focus, so that by the time we reach the art table they are calm, present, and ready to create. From there we flow into collaborative, sensory art in a process-based studio, where children paint, pour, squish, and build right alongside one another. Movement first, then making, and the two are always connected. Little artists will move at their own pace in a warm, unhurried room. The season follows the world outside, from early fall sunshine to first snow, so every week brings a fresh theme, a new pose, and a new way to paint, print, and play. This is a grown up and me class, so your favorite caregiver stays close for cuddles, encouragement, and the occasional handprint. ** This season, our studio kiln comes alive! any time we work with natural clay, little sculptor's creations will be fired, then painted by the artists, and hand-glazed by our teachers, transforming their squishy handmade art into treasured keepsakes that everyone will cherish for years to come! Meet Your Movement Teacher, Lily: Lily brings together two of the things this program is built on: movement and art. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and Visual Arts from Fordham University, along with more than 500 hours of vinyasa yoga training and a Children's Yoga Instructor certification from the Circle Yoga Cooperative, which means every class is guided by someone who truly understands both how little bodies move and how young imaginations create. She has spent years working with children, teaching at yoga summer camps where she has led art projects for groups of young learners and mentoring students in visual arts, and she has a gift for creating warm, encouraging spaces where children feel safe to explore, get messy, and discover at their own pace. When she is not on the mat or at the art table, Lily is passionate about art education, photography, and finding new ways to help children learn through play! **Class email will be sent out the week before the semester begins with a dedicated WhatsApp group per class!

(Wednesdays - 2-3 yrs old) MOVE & MAKE Ages: 2s & 3s Schedule: Wednesdays, 9:30am-10:30am (enroll one day or for all!) Season: September 15 – December 15, 2026 Sessions: 12 Tuesdays (closed 11/11 and the week of Nov 23–27 for Thanksgiving) Two-year-olds are bursting with energy and big feelings, and this class gives all of it somewhere joyful to go. We spend the first half of class on playful, story-led yoga (pick apples, roll like pumpkins, curl up like cozy bears, float like snowflakes), then flow straight into a connected sensory art project with painting, printing, tactile trays, and big collaborative murals the whole class builds together. Here is how we break up the hour, and why it works so well for little ones. We always begin with movement. The magic is in the connection. Children feel a shape or a movement in their bodies, then create it with their hands. Everything is process based and rooted in learning through play, so we celebrate the exploration and the joy of discovery far more than a perfect finished product. Every child has their own yoga mat, classes stay small and nurturing, and the season builds week by week into a keepsake collection of art. Caregivers are welcome to settle in nearby while their little artist explores. ** This season, our studio kiln comes alive! any time we work with natural clay, little sculptor's creations will be fired, then painted by the artists, and hand-glazed by our teachers, transforming their squishy handmade art into treasured keepsakes that everyone will cherish for years to come! Taught by our talented teaching artist, Ms. Lucy, students will explore composition, shading techniques, color theory, and more. Simultaneously, we will discuss Art History as we work. All of the students who have taken this class and submitted a portfolio have gotten into their high school of choice!** **While we will be using High School Portfolio standards to inform our practice, we will not necessarily be making pieces that will fit your 8th grade portfolio application (please see our note below). Please note , the portfolio requirements for the High School application are very rigorous, and cannot be completed in this Friday class alone. If you have a 7th or 8th grader that is building a portfolio and would like our assistance, you will need to add-on an additional fee of $90 weekly. This will give your child access to attend our studio any additional days they would like where they will work independently on the assignments required for their portfolio. We will also assign them required homework. Please email us about this option. *Please note , this class will focus on works on paper with pencil, paint, and pastels.
