About this event

We're excited to host the New Canaan Library's first Winter Cookie Bake Off! This is the registration for individuals or teams who would like to participate as BAKERS. Interested in viewing and voting only, no messy kitchen clean up required? You can sign up to attend the public voting session of the Bake Off here! The Bake Off is open to all ages, but registration is required! You will receive a packet of information with the full rules and requirements at the email provided in your registration. Here are the most important guidelines though: You must bring at least 24 cookies, at least 5 of which must be fully decorated for judging. The other 19 will be used for taste testing and can be decorated if you'd like, but it is not required. You must provide a full ingredient list. Cookies must be dropped off at the Children's Desk in the Library on December 4th between 3:30 and 5 PM. There will be a private Bakers Only tasting and voting session on December 5th from 3 to 3:30 PM. The public will be able to vote on cookies (and taste any leftover samples) from 3:30 to 4:30 PM on the 5th. If you win one of the 4 judging categories (taste, execution, design, and uniqueness/creativity) or the overall grand prize, you will be able to pick up your prize starting at noon on Sunday, December 6th. Do you have an idea for the perfect cookie, but can't find the right shape cutter? Good news! The library can 3d print a single use cookie cutter for you based on a drawing you provide for us! GO HERE to find out how the library can help make your cookie dreams a reality!

Each month we will take on a 3D design project using a CAD software. This month we will be creating a print-in-place hinged box in Tinkercad. Some 3D design experience in Tinkercad or similar program is helpful but not required. Please note that due to the time it takes to 3D print an object, finished projects may need to be picked up after the class. You will receive a confirmation email when your finished printed project is ready for pick up. For students in grades 4-7. Registration opens October 1 at 8am.
