About this event

We are delighted to welcome you to our children's concert with local resident and talented singer, Anitra Brooks. Anitra sings in 5 different languages and teaches the audience the refrains so they can sing parts of the songs along with her. This concert is geared toward preschoolers and early elementary school students but older children and adults are welcome. Children ages 4 and 5 will explore imaginative play, singing, acting and movement to experience the magic and make-believe of the theatre as an active player rather than a passive observer. Though disguised as play, these drama activities, promote cognitive, emotional, physical and social development skills. But most importantly, they are just plain fun! For programs that are 30 minutes on length, a 10 minute grace period will be given, and for programs that are 45-60 minutes in the length, a 15 minute grace period will be given. To not disturb the program, there is no admittance after the grace period.

Each class springs from a beloved picture book and grows into a full dramatic experience. Students don't just hear the story — they inhabit it. Every class is enacted by participants using costume pieces and props, with activities that build through movement, song, and imagination. No performance experience needed. Every child is a storyteller. Ages 6-9 For programs that are 30 minutes on length, a 10 minute grace period will be given, and for programs that are 45-60 minutes in the length, a 15 minute grace period will be given. To not disturb the program, there is no admittance after the grace period.

Celebrate the colors of fall by creating a bright and cheerful Pumpkin Suncatcher! Preschoolers will use tissue paper and simple craft materials to make a festive pumpkin that glows beautifully in a sunny window. This hands-on activity encourages creativity, strengthens fine motor skills, and helps little ones explore colors, shapes, and seasonal themes.
