Chelsea Forest Play is eager to welcome Puppetsburg to the forest! Puppetsburg rocks interactive, culturally relevant puppet shows for 6mos-5yrs. The shows are 45 minutes long and feature a different story each week that involves different activities to go with our unique show each time: dancing, instruments, dress-up "photo-ops," one on one time with our handmade puppets, bubble time, and more! You’ll love their celebrity puppets like Greta Thunberg, Frida Kahlo, and Bob Dylan, and shows ranging from “The Beyonce Show!” to “The Mermaid/ Water Conservation Show!” to “The Tale of the Lost Bunny” Check out our instagram @chelseaforestplay and theirs @puppetsburg to see which show is playing this week! MEET THE PUPPETS Get to know the cast of handmade puppet characters including the tattooed protagonist Clementine, creatures of land and sea, and celebrity puppets like Beyonce, Frida Kahlo, Greta Thunberg, Lizzo, Ai Wei Wei, Bob Dylan, and more! LEARNING Regularly exploring concepts like counting, simple vocabulary, hygiene, and hipster culture, Puppetsburg is a uniquely contemporary puppet show that is entertaining for infants, toddlers, and parents alike. CULTURAL AND ON-TREND Puppetsburg exposes little ones to all kinds of cultural elements as well, preparing them to be on-trend New York and world citizens. *To help keep our littlest guests healthy, we do a quick temperature check for all babies and adults at arrival, and we’ll gladly offer a credit if anyone is feeling under the weather.* Come play your way in a calm, welcoming session created just for our youngest explorers and their caregivers. While Chelsea Forest Play is often shared with toddlers and preschoolers, this open play is reserved exclusively for pre-walkers. During this session, we swap out our older play materials for age-appropriate toys that support tummy time, early movement, and gentle sensory exploration, all without the hustle of bigger bodies or busier play. This is a place to stretch out on the floor, watch your baby observe and interact, and connect with other caregivers. Whether your baby is lying, rolling, sitting, or simply taking it all in, they are welcome exactly as they are. Is your little one confidently walking? Check out our regular Open Play sessions!

If your baby is between 5-7 months and is just beginning to work on core strength & rolling, Baby Mobility 102: Core Strength & Rolling may be the better starting point. Build on early foundations with exercises that promote stability and active engagement. Focus on tummy time confidence, visual tracking, and preparing for purposeful movement. Bilingual Music Class with Birdsong

Join us for a warm, joyful music experience in collaboration with Birdsong Toys , a company dedicated to helping young children connect with language through play. This class is led by Tomas LaTorre, a local musician and Avenues teacher who brings a relaxed, engaging style to a mix of English and Spanish children’s songs, played live on guitar. The class is designed to feel playful and accessible, with lots of opportunities for movement, imitation, and connection. We’ll incorporate simple props like scarves, rattles, and Birdsong’s signature plush elephants, thoughtfully designed to support early bilingual exposure through music, rhythm, and interaction. Their toys are rooted in the idea that language learning happens naturally through play, songs, and shared experiences. Perfect for little ones and their grown-ups to enjoy together, no prior Spanish exposure needed.
