"The Summit Lions Club is celebrating 100 years of service to the Summit Community. In 1925, Helen Keller attended the Lions Clubs International Convention and challenged Lions to become "knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness." Since that time, Lions have been tireless advocates for the blind and visually impaired. The Summit Lions provide youth vision screenings throughout the year and refer them and their parents/guardian to an eye doctor if needed. The screening is simple and quick using the The Welch Allyn Spot Vision Screener , a portable, camera-like device used to quickly detect common vision risk factors in patients starting at six months old. It performs a non-invasive binocular test from a distance of three feet to identify potential issues without needing a traditional eye chart.
