Kids DJ An introduction to the art and culture of DJing. Students learn the fundamentals of working with turntables and DJ equipment, including beat matching, cueing, transitions, song structure, rhythm, and selecting music to build a set. Along the way, students explore the DJ’s foundational role in Hip Hop and learn to listen to music in an entirely new way. Classes are hands-on, creative, and rooted in both the craft and history of DJ culture. No prior experience required.

This program is for students who are able to focus. It is not a play-based program. Please enroll in MiniMovers if your child is under 6 or is learning to sustain attention. Breaking Foundations (Absolute Beginner) Designed for kids with little to no breaking experience, this class introduces the fundamentals of breaking through a structured, drill-based training format. Unlike many recreational children's activities, breaking requires repetition, focus, and consistent practice to build technique. Students will learn foundational toprock, footwork, freezes, rhythm, coordination, and body control while developing confidence and creativity. Breaking is a disciplined art form rooted in respect for the culture, the instructor, fellow students, and the space. Students are expected to follow directions, participate respectfully, and remain engaged in class activities. Students who are unable to do so may be asked to sit out or leave class at the instructor's discretion. To support continued progress, all enrolled students receive access to online practice videos that reinforce the skills taught in class and encourage at-home training between sessions. No experience required.

To protect the integrity of our training program and the safety and focus of our students, if your child is under six years old, we required that you enroll in a MiniMovers class. Breaking Intermediate Designed for students who have completed approximately 3-6 months of foundational breaking training, this class builds on established skills and introduces more advanced concepts, combinations, transitions, freezes, musicality, and movement vocabulary. Students will refine their technique while developing greater strength, control, endurance, creativity, and personal style. Classes follow a structured, drill-based training format that emphasizes repetition, technique, and consistent practice. Unlike many recreational activities, progress in breaking requires focus, discipline, and training both in and outside of class. All enrolled students receive access to online training videos to support continued practice between sessions. Breaking is a disciplined art form rooted in respect for the culture, the instructor, fellow students, and the space. Students are expected to arrive ready to train, accept corrections, and contribute positively to the learning environment. Enrollment is by instructor recommendation or demonstrated proficiency in foundational breaking skills.

Reserve a spot online, drop in anytime between 1 and 5 pm! $25/child and no time limit to create! At Open Studio kids can explore their creativity in a relaxed, self-guided environment. With rotating art stations, children can experiment with painting, sculpting, crafting, and more—allowing them to dive into fun, hands-on projects at their own pace. It’s the perfect way for kids to unwind and let their imagination run wild. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Walk-ins are welcome if space is available. Duration: $25 per child. Reservations may begin anytime between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM; however, all visits must end at closing time. Please note that late arrivals do not extend studio hours, and the studio does not remain open past 5:00 PM for unfinished reservation time.) Students will take inspiration from beloved storybooks to create sets, props, and costumes, which they will incorporate into an end of semester performance! Looking for an engaging, convenient, safe, and creative option for your kiddo in the neighborhood with school pick up options? Seek no further, because Treasure Trunk has you covered! With options Monday through Friday, your child will be safely walked from their school (drop-off options also available, if preferred!) and welcomed into a world of imagination and dramatic play, led by our talented teaching artists who are both theatrical and childcare professionals. TIMING: All days run 3:00-5:00pm, with an optional extended day from 5:00-6:00pm Please Note: Students registered for Extended Day at Brooklyn Brainery will be walked to TT Prospect Heights (700 Washington Ave) for the 5-6pm portion of the day. OUTLINE OF THE DAY: Kiddos will be walked from their school to our studio, if optional school pick up has been purchased. We will then have a snack time followed by quiet coloring and homework help (if needed). Students will then dive into their focus for the day with our specialized and engaging theatrical class.
