Join the Architectural Resource Center for an interactive Solar Energy Design program. This program will discuss the desire for architectural designers to consider more energy efficient power sources in their design plans. Attendees will meet professional architects and hear what is involved when designing, then will work along side them to build mini solar houses. This is a great opportunity for curious, creative learners to explore the field of architecture.
Join us in the MakerLab for a fun Halloween sewing project. We will be using felt and other accents to hand-sew cute Halloween-themed stuffed figures. There will be several designs to select from. No sewing experience necessary. For students in grades 4-8.
Ready to get creative and bring your imagination to life? Join a few NCHS art students for a fun, hands-on art class! Students will make their own paper lanterns with designs such as jack-o-lanterns, ghosts, bats, and more. Materials will be provided, and students can take their creations home to display on Halloween! These classes are organized by Emily Meng, a high school sophomore and recipient of multiple Scholastic Art Awards, including the CAEA/Arnini Best in Drawing Award, as well as additional honors in national and international competitions. Emily has a strong background in drawing, painting, crafting, and mural work, and she is passionate about sharing creative, hands-on experiences with young students. Each month we will focus on a coding concept that we will incorporate into coding our custom games in Scratch. This month will be focusing randomness in coding and developing a Halloween-themed game. After we cover the basics, you will be able to make your game your own through graphic design, character development or adding more complex code. No Scratch experience is necessary. You may log in to your own Scratch account or use a library account for this class. For students in grades 3-5.
