Myths & Mysteries of The Octagon House

Originally built in the 1860s, The Octagon House is an eight-sided, domed home in the shape of a classic Roman temple. Venture onto the Myths & Mysteries tour to hear about uncanny experiences in the home, uncover the story of the residents’ unusual lives and explore the architectural connections to 19th-century spiritualism. At the conclusion of the tour, visitors are invited to experience Remember You Must Die, a curated exhibition from the Memento Mori collection of Ryan Matthew Cohn featuring objects ranging from ancient artifacts to contemporary works and examining the ways past generations confronted mortality through art, ritual, memory, and spirituality. Autumn Glow Festival

A glowing Glen Island Park is coming to the Westchester waterfront this fall as the Autumn Glow Festival transforms New Rochelle into a brightly lit waterfront wonderland. The limited-time evening event merges traditional Chinese lantern artistry with modern LED displays along the shores of Long Island Sound. Visitors will step into a dazzling escape with hundreds of larger-than-life Chinese lanterns made of modern LED lights combined with traditional hand-crafted lantern frames made from small pieces of Chinese silk cloth and steel wire. Each unique, handmade artisan piece holds a story of its own with depictions of Chinese legends and lore, as well as the beauty of nature. Susan's new found passion is long arm quilting. It is a joy to design, create and longarm your individual works without outside assistance. Art For Purchase This fall, The Rye Arts Center once again transforms Purchase Street in Downtown Rye into an open-air art experience. This year's edition runs longer than ever before, stretching from September 17th through October 29th, with a special opening reception planned for the evening of the 17th. Residents and visitors alike are invited to experience art woven seamlessly into the fabric of everyday life, all autumn long. This year’s event is thoughtfully timed to coincide with beloved local happenings—such as the annual October window painting— creating exceptionally vibrant opportunities to celebrate local creativity while amplifying visibility for both artists and local merchants.
