This program aims to open the pathway to a lifetime of musical creation, enjoyment and education to our learners through the amazing instrument called the guitar. We will learn to perform music on guitar, working on repertoire selected in conjunction with students, and we will foster passion in music and the arts while developing real-life applicable music skills. In addition to performing, we will learn about the building blocks of writing music, and about different genres of music. Guitar is an instrument used across most styles of music and, because of this, is a great tool for learning about each other and our diverse music tastes. From custom tote bags and clear pouches to beaded keychains, photo frames, bookmarks, and phone charms, students get to bring their style to life with projects they’ll love using every day. The class teaches kids how to plan a design, work with different materials, and express themselves through color, texture, and pattern. This hands-on, fashion-forward class is all about creativity, independence, and making something that feels uniquely “them.” Kids leave each session with a finished accessory they’re excited to show off.

Each week, students will explore the building blocks of songwriting like rhythm, rhyme, syllables, melody, song structure (verse, chorus, bridge), and how to write lyrics that tell a story or share a feeling. Students will brainstorm as a group, experiment with word banks and beat patterns, and practice writing strong hooks and choruses. They will collaborate respectfully, workshop their lyrics, and build confidence performing drafts in a supportive environment. Depending on the group, songs may be created a cappella, with simple percussion, or over kid friendly instrumental tracks.

2:30-3:30 pm Through the Lens is a photography class for students in 3rd through 5th grade where kids learn how to tell stories and capture their world through images. Students will explore the basics of photography in a fun, age appropriate way, including lighting, composition, perspective, framing, and how to photograph people, places, and objects with intention. Each week includes mini photo challenges and creative prompts such as textures, shadows, color hunts, emotion portraits, and storytelling sequences. Students will practice giving and receiving kind feedback while building confidence in their own creative eye. If students have an old or inexpensive camera at home, they are welcome to bring it to class , but it is completely optional. The teacher will always provide ways for every student to participate, with or without a personal camera. 3:30-4:30 pm Naomi’s Jam Session is a high energy contemporary music class for students in 3rd through 5th grade where kids get to sing, play, and collaborate in a fun, low pressure jam environment. Using guitar, vocals, and simple rhythm instruments, students will explore popular music and learn what it feels like to make music together as a group. Each week includes upbeat sing alongs, call and response games, lyric based activities, and group jams where students can take turns leading, choosing parts, and adding their own style. The focus is on confidence, creativity, and teamwork rather than formal lessons. By the end of the session, students will have a mini set of favorite songs they can perform together and a stronger love for music.

Travel con Lola Summer Camp, presented in partnership with Compass, is a full day summer experience built around exploration, creativity, community, and active outdoor play. Camp runs Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and gives children the chance to learn, create, and stay active in a warm and engaging environment. Campers are grouped thoughtfully and rotate through daily programming in three core areas: Art, STEAM, and Sports. Each week, children explore new destinations and themes through hands on projects, building challenges, experiments, and collaborative activities that spark curiosity and encourage connection. Outdoor time is a central part of the camp experience. Children enjoy supervised play, nature based activities, scavenger hunts, movement games, and water play that keep them engaged throughout the day.
