Calling all children in grades k-2! Book Buddies is back! Pair up with a teen buddy (Grades 6+), choose books, and spend time reading together. Afterward, all book buddy pairs will participate in games & activities.
*Book Buddies is a reading partner program. In signing up your child for this program, you are committing to the entire six-week series (barring illness or other unforeseen circumstances). PLEASE ONLY REGISTER IF YOU ARE ABLE TO COMMIT TO ALL SIX WEEKS!

Popcorn Reading Book Club Presents: The Lion of Mars by Jennifer L. Holm
Join us for a lively discussion with popcorn as we talk about what makes this book great. In addition, we'll be doing a special themed craft related to the story.
"Bell is just like any other kid. He loves cats, eats all kinds of cake, and is curious about everything. Oh, and he lives on another planet! Living on Mars comes with a ton of rules. Like don’t go outside without a buddy. Always keep a glow stick in your pocket. And no contact with the kids in the other settlements. Ever. An open playtime for children aged 18 mos to 4 years and their caregivers. Children together with their engaged caregivers can explore and play with our collection of learning toys - everything from building blocks to a light table! Help your child learn new vocabulary and concepts while having fun.
Children will learn and grow while developing language, social, and small-motor skills with the help of their attentive caregivers.
Drop-in, no registration required.

Write him a letter!
The first Monday of the month, kids can come in to write a letter and mail it to Dewey!
Kids will be paired with a teen to help them write their letters.
Through this program, kids will:
• practice and hone their writing and spelling skills
• learn how to address and stamp a letter
• learn about the mail system
Kids will receive a letter back from Dewey during the next session!

Drop in to the Garden View Room to create an original piece of art for our Winter Wonders Art Show! Create a winter-themed picture to display in the library until January 4th. Draw, paint, or collage - we'll have various creative materials for kids in grades K and up. All art will remain at the library for display in our Young Arts Gallery in the Youth Services hallway. All art must be picked up the week of January 4-8th.
Drop in between 10:00am - 12:00pm

Calling all coders! Mahopac Library presents the 3rd-5th Coding Club!
Join us for an afternoon playing with specialized robots called Ozobots! You and others will use these bots to compete in various games combining both art and technology, while also learning about the basics of coding.

Led by the professional staff from Mathnasium in Mohegan Lake, this fun program will include active ways to learn and explore math concepts for children in grades 1-5. There will be prizes and giveaways and each child who finishes all 8 activities goes home with a goody bag! Parents are encouraged to play along to learn easy ways to implement math learning at home.
Calling all library kids ages 4 to 8! STEAM Family Storytime is back! Join us for a morning devoted to reading, creating, and exploring the wonderful world of math and science. Each story time includes a book pertaining to STEAM principles, followed by an engaging activity based around the book!
Parents/caregivers must register for each session individually, and are encouraged to participate with their children.
