Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Mariachi Real de México Hailed by NY Magazine as “New York City’s best sounding Mariachi band,” directed by Ramon Ponce, Sr., and his son Ramon Ponce, Jr., Mariachi Real de México has become one of the most respected and dynamic mariachi ensembles in the United States. The NYC-based group is celebrated for its artistry, authenticity, and dedication to preserving the rich cultural traditions of Mexico while presenting them on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, and The Smithsonian Institution. They have been invited to perform at the White House, and can be heard on Bruce Springsteen’s “The Lost Chorro” and Tito Puente’s Grammy award winning “Masterpiece.” Free & Open To All. This interactive presentation encourages families of all ages to engage in live audience participation with Colombian instruments and the shadow-theater-style puppets. Inspired by a Pre-Columbian myth with relevance to our current times; Little Man / El Hombrecito is a short film created and directed by Marion Schoevaert (Art Director/Director), who brings an extensive background in youth programming, having designed and directed 33 concert-illustrations and shadow-play performances for the New York Philharmonic at Merkin Hall and David Geffen Hall (Avery Fisher Hall). The film features minimal narration in both English and Spanish, allowing the storytelling to be driven by a rich score, composed by Pablo Mayor and performed by his Folklore Urbano Orchestra, the music showcases the full instrumental range of Colombian tradition. **This project is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by ArtsWestchester.” Made possible at Warner by a NY State Grant from Mary Jane Shimsky.

Join educator and author Dave Wolffe for an interactive, conversational exploration of anger and anger management using the Anger Management Power program. A definition of anger management. The causes of anger, both obvious and those less so. The effects of this emotion, physical and emotional, as well as the thoughts that accompany it. Anger Management Techniques to diminish the feeling’s intensity and to express anger. Situations to which these methods can be applied. About The Presenter Dave Wolffe earned his Bachelor of Arts and Master's Degree in Education from Queens College. He has been an educator for over thirty-five years. He taught grades one through nine for most of his tenure with the New York City Board of Education and was a high school guidance counselor for the last thirteen years of his career. He served as an Adjunct Lecturer at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City for fourteen years where he taught the Sociology of Conflict in the Dispute Resolution Program. He was certified as a Peer Mediation Specialist from the International Center for Conflict Resolution of Columbia University Teachers College. While working as a high school counselor, Dave utilized this training to teach high school students how to facilitate peer mediation sessions with their peers. During this experience, he and many of these young people helped to establish, facilitate, and participate in schoolwide and boroughwide violence-prevention programs. In addition, he was certified as a mediator by Westchester Mediation of Cluster, located in Yonkers, New York. He is also a Fellow in the National Anger Management Association (NAMA). In addition, Dave Wolffe developed an anger management program known as the Anger Management Power Program (AMP), on which two of his books are based. He has facilitated this training experience with over 1,000 high school students and well over 600 parents, educators, and other individuals who are concerned with youth in this area. He also established and has presented violence-prevention workshops based on this program for the New York City area teacher education college programs, has worked with mediators in this area, and has created a facilitator-training method for this program. Dave currently resides in Connecticut with his life partner.
