About this event

The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze returns to Van Cortlandt Manor in Croton-on-Hudson. The gourd-geous event features more than 7,000 hand-carved, illuminated jack o’lanterns arranged in jaw-dropping shapes, including dinosaurs and a carousel. Guests take a self-guided walk through the display and can stop at the Gourd & Goblet Tavern or the Headless Horseman Hideaway for spooky sips and haunting visits from the Horseman himself. Take action for our waterways and wildlife during International Coastal Cleanup Day! Help remove trash from our shorelines and protect the natural ecosystems we all enjoy! Please dress accordingly for the weather. Bring a jacket, closed toe hiking shoes, and a water bottle. Litter picking materials (pick sticks, gloves, trash bags, etc.) will be provided. We will meet at the Environmental Education and Resiliency Center in Field 1 of Hempstead Lake State Park. No admission fees for this program. Each person in your party needs a ticket.Reservations are required for all programs. Space is limited. If you are unable to keep your reservation, please cancel so others may have the opportunity to attend. Please try to arrive at least 15 minutes early. The 75th Annual Herb Fair & Market, presented by the New York Unit of the Herb Society of America (NYUHSA), celebrates three-quarters of a century of honoring the world of herbs. Guests can look forward to a vibrant artisan marketplace, hands-on workshops, free expert presentations, and activities for the whole family, all set within Caramoor’s stunning historic grounds. The Rosen House at Caramoor, a Mediterranean-style estate built between 1929 and 1939 by banker Walter Rosen and his wife Lucie Bigelow Dodge Rosen, will be open for self-guided exploration from 10 AM to 1:30 PM. Filled with fine and decorative Asian and Renaissance art, including complete 18th-century rooms transplanted from private villas in Italy, France, and England, the House is a treasure in its own right. From 2 PM to 3 PM, guests are invited to linger a little longer with Tea Time in the historic Music Room. Reflecting the English tradition cherished by Lucie Rosen since the early 1910s, the service features freshly made tea sandwiches, warm scones, delicate desserts, and a selection of fragrant herbal teas. Please note access to the Rosen House programs requires a ticket.

Drop in every third Saturday of the month between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. to explore New York City’s oldest house together. Arrive by 1 p.m. for a unique hands-on making activity each month. Seasonal activities inside the historic house and around the gardens include scavenger hunts, artifact investigation, gardening, self-guided exploration and hands-on activities. Family Day is open to everyone. Activities are designed for families with kids ages 4 to 10. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No reservation required. Groups of 8 or more must contact us ahead of time at programs@wyckoffmuseum.org.

Acclaimed clarinetist and vocalist Kristen Mather de Andrade joins forces with Grammy-nominated pianist Vitor Goncalves for a vibrant performance celebrating the music of Brazil. Co-producers of the elegant and effervescent album Sem Fim (Ansonica Records), this duo brings selections from the record together with timeless classics from the traditional Brazilian repertoire, their dynamic performance offers a captivating, genre-defying musical journey which blends classical artistry, jazz sophistication, and rich Brazilian rhythms. This is part of a series offered in tribute to the late Manny Albam, a long-time Mount Airy resident, a renowned trombonist, arranger, and director of the BMI Composer's Workshop. First come, first served — and previous concerts in this series have been very popular, so please plan to come early because the space might fill up! This Jazz Sundays series is co-sponsored with the Library by the Village of Croton-on-Hudson's Arts & Humanities Council.

Join NIA practitioner Melanie Duke to celebrate the evening of the autumn equinox! We'll learn NIA dance to music that honors indigenous culture in a time of balance, gratitude, and preparation for the upcoming quieter winter, reflect on the circular nature of life when daylight and night time are equal in length, and harmonize our breath through that of the land we walk upon. New to NIA? No problem! It involves easy-to-follow movements that focus on combining big body moves with small and focused steps, creating a free and joyful hour of dance. An open mind and a willingness to move the way your body wants to move are the only requirements. Free and open to all! This program is appropriate for anyone ages 8 to 88. BIO Melanie Duke has taught NIA dance in Italy, France, and the Netherlands, as well as the United States. She currently teaches at the JCC in DeWitt, NY, and she finds true joy in each dancer moving in their unique, lovely, beautiful body.
