The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze returns to Van Cortlandt Manor in Croton-on-Hudson. The gourd-geous event features more than 7,000 hand-carved, illuminated jack o’lanterns arranged in jaw-dropping shapes, including dinosaurs and a carousel. Guests take a self-guided walk through the display and can stop at the Gourd & Goblet Tavern or the Headless Horseman Hideaway for spooky sips and haunting visits from the Horseman himself. Take action for our waterways and wildlife during International Coastal Cleanup Day! Help remove trash from our shorelines and protect the natural ecosystems we all enjoy! Please dress accordingly for the weather. Bring a jacket, closed toe hiking shoes, and a water bottle. Litter picking materials (pick sticks, gloves, trash bags, etc.) will be provided. We will meet at the Environmental Education and Resiliency Center in Field 1 of Hempstead Lake State Park. No admission fees for this program. Each person in your party needs a ticket.Reservations are required for all programs. Space is limited. If you are unable to keep your reservation, please cancel so others may have the opportunity to attend. Please try to arrive at least 15 minutes early. Come to the Library for an in-person support group for new parents and their babies! This group offers community, support, and solace for parents at the beginning of their journeys. It is led by Beth Villeneuve IBCLC, a licensed pediatric nurse and mother of seven. Beth also holds a Bachelor of Science in Maternal Child Health and Human Lactation. Different feeding styles will be discussed, and there are no feeding-style requirements or expectations to attend. And parents of all genders are welcomed with open arms! Free and open to all. After a quick warm up, we will read books and act it out in yoga poses. This class is designed to promote early literacy combined with movement. This class is perfect for kids ages 6 weeks to 5 years old with a caregiver, but all are welcome. Please bring your own yoga mats or towels. No registration required! Co-producers of the elegant and effervescent album Sem Fim (Ansonica Records), this duo brings selections from the record together with timeless classics from the traditional Brazilian repertoire, their dynamic performance offers a captivating, genre-defying musical journey which blends classical artistry, jazz sophistication, and rich Brazilian rhythms. This is part of a series offered in tribute to the late Manny Albam, a long-time Mount Airy resident, a renowned trombonist, arranger, and director of the BMI Composer's Workshop.
