Yool Kim Exhibition: Open Reception

Yool Kim Exhibition: Open Reception

Sat, Sep 12 · 3:00 PM

Industry City · Greenwood Heights

Open Reception Sept 12th 3 – 6pm! Court Tree Collective is proud to present “The Place Memory Keeps,” the fourth New York City solo exhibition by Yool Kim. Building upon the emotional language that has come to define her practice, this new body of work ventures further into the quiet, dreamlike spaces where memory, longing, and imagination converge. Kim’s paintings are driven by a continual pursuit of images that resonate on a deeply human level. Her figures and landscapes exist between reality and recollection, inviting viewers into intimate moments that feel both familiar and otherworldly. Each composition is imbued with a sense of stillness and emotional depth, revealing a painter committed to creating works that speak as much to the soul as they do to the eye. While rooted in the timeless traditions of painting, Kim’s practice embraces a distinctly contemporary sensibility. She balances classical aesthetics with modern techniques, creating luminous surfaces and nuanced compositions that feel both enduring and unmistakably of the present. In The Place Memory Keeps, she continues to refine this visual language, offering a collection of paintings that linger long after they are seen works that remind us how memory shapes not only the places we have been, but the people we become.

More about Shakedown Citi Shakedown Citi is a fresh new force on the jam band scene, born in the heart of a Grateful Dead parking lot at Citi Field in 2023. When the band’s members crossed paths on Shakedown Street, something clicked – and the music hasn’t stopped since. Rather than imitating the Dead, Shakedown Citi channels their spirit – creating spontaneous, soulful performances that feel alive, adventurous and totally in the moment. Each set is a journey, full of unexpected twists, deep grooves and musical conversation that pulls even the most skeptical listener into the vibe. Every Shakedown Citi show begins long before the first note. Each setlist is thoughtfully and meticulously crafted from the Dead repertoire, affiliated catalogs and beyond, balancing deep cuts and beloved anthems, rarities and reprises. No two nights are ever the same – each performance stands as a work of art on its own, alive in its moment, while also fitting into the larger patchwork of the repertoire. It’s not just a tribute – it’s the Dead, reborn.

David Zayas Jr. Premiere Solo Photography Show

Sat, Sep 19 · All day

Industry City · Greenwood Heights

DAVID ZAYAS JR.: SOLO ART SHOW Friday, September 18 at 8PM Tom Kane Theatre at brooklynONE Productions brooklynONE Productions presents the first-ever solo photography exhibition from Bronx-born photographer, filmmaker, actor and director David Zayas Jr. Long before his work as a theatre and film director, Zayas began his artistic journey behind the camera. Over more than a decade, photography became a foundation for a creative career that would eventually take him across New York’s independent film and theatre communities. Now, for the first time, that body of photographic work takes center stage. DAVID ZAYAS JR.: SOLO ART SHOW transforms the Tom Kane Theatre into a gallery for an evening celebrating Zayas’ photography, visual storytelling and distinctive perspective on the people and world around him. Zayas is a multidisciplinary New York artist and member of LAByrinth Theater Company and The Actors Studio’s Playwright/Directors Unit. His directing career includes his Off-Broadway debut with Sam Shepard’s Simpatico, work with LAByrinth’s Barn Series, Chain Theatre, Planet Connections and Actors Theatre of NY, as well as brooklynONE Productions, where he has previously directed on the Tom Kane Theatre stage that will now house his first solo photography exhibition. His work also extends into independent filmmaking, with films screened and recognized at festivals around the country. For bkONE, this exhibition marks another chapter in an ongoing artistic relationship with Zayas, this time turning the spotlight away from the stage and toward the images he creates behind the camera. Join David, brooklynONE and the NYC arts community for the opening of this landmark first solo exhibition and an evening dedicated to independent art, photography and storytelling. PLEASE NOTE: This exhibition contains mature content and is intended for guests ages 18 and older. We are honored that the band had so much fun with you all in May that they wanted to close out The Summer of the Horse back on their home stomping grounds. As a special thank-you for an amazing summer on behalf of the band and your friendly neighborhood concert promoter, the first 80 ticket purchasers will receive a free commemorative poster at the event! Limit of one poster per order. In their own words, “Real Young & Lazy Horse are an unreasonably faithful, occasionally feral reincarnation of Neil Young & Crazy Horse at their most ragged and transcendent. Drawing from the deep well of Neil’s catalog, the band doesn’t play the songs so much as become them. “Expect epic, long-burn renditions stacked with solos that ride past the horizon line — just as the spirit of the Horse intends. With shows routinely spilling over the three-hour mark it is nothing short of a phenomenon to experience this uncanny sensation. Real Young & Lazy Horse.
