About this event

Urban STEAM Lab will be offering afterschool pick-up and care for K through 5th grade in the 2025/2026 school year. Students will be picked up promptly at 2:30p from their schools and will head directly to Urban STEAM Lab for hands-on learning, inquiry, connections, and fun. The STEAM theme changes weekly and will include topics such as oceanic science, Newton’s Laws of motion, maker challenges, light and sound, map skills, and so much more. After-school will be offered in two parts: STEAM projects be from 3:00-4:30. For families needing additional care, homework time and free play will be from 4:30-6:00 ($15/day). Urban STEAM Lab will offer pick up options for PS102 and PS185. PS185 students attend the 5th Avenue location. PS102 students attend the Owl's Head location. Double check that you're registering for the right location. We are only registering up to 4 K-1st graders per location.

Aikido Kids Classes

Aikido is a well-rounded and rigorous non-violent Martial Art training experience that includes warm-up and conditioning exercises, Ukemi practice (the art of falling), wooden weapons practice (Bokken and Jo), open-handed aikido techniques, games, and meditation. Children are encouraged to develop a growth mindset without unnecessary competition. Testing for a new belt level happens 3 times a year. As at any true martial art dojo children can freely attend some or all classes within their schedule.
