About this event
In this mixed-ages workshop, kids will become a team of scientists, artists, and innovators! We will work together as a team to design and build compound machines with cranks, gears and levers. We will combine a foundation of learning about six simple machines (inclined plane, wedge, lever, wheel and axle, screw, pulley) with inspiration from our local environment at the KoKo Lot. Found objects will be taken apart and repurposed as our building materials along with recycled materials. Pick-up is available from PS 10, PS 295, K280, and PS 321 Upper. (Please note: if a group of 5 or more kids is interested in after school pick up from another school within walking distance of the KoKo Lot, please email info@kokonyc.org to discuss options.) Pick-up is an optional add-on that applies to the full semester. The cost for pick-up is $120 ($15/session). Kids are picked up by a KoKo NYC Teaching Artist at school dismissal time and escorted to the Lot. Kids have snack and playtime until the workshop begins at 3:30PM.
