About this event

Open-Ended Play is a 75-minute child-led exploration in our curated atelier where children freely explore materials and spaces at their own pace. Unlike guided activities, there is no set outcome. Children choose what to play with and how, building independence, creativity, problem-solving, and social skills through self-directed exploration. *Each child requires their own ticket based on their developmental stage. Sibling discount applies only when children are in the same developmental category (pre-walker + pre-walker or walker + walker)

Little Mustard Seed NYC

A 4-Week German Language Atelier for Toddlers & Young Children At Little Mustard Seed NYC, we believe children learn best through movement, repetition, creativity, and connection. Hallo, Kinder! is a gentle introduction to the German language designed for children ages 0-5 and their caregivers, blending early language exposure with the warm, play-based philosophy of our Atelier. This is not a traditional language class. There are no worksheets, pressure, or expectations for perfect pronunciation. Instead, children learn naturally through music, sensory play, storytelling, movement, and interactive experiences that allow language to feel joyful and alive. Each class begins with movement and connection before transitioning into calmer moments of focused play and language exploration. Children will sing, move, play, hear German repeated in meaningful ways, and build confidence through routine and repetition. Over the 4-week session, families will explore: Greetings & introductions Family & community words Animals & movement play Colors & counting in German Each week includes: Music + movement Open-ended play Storytelling + songs Sensory invitations + creative activities Caregiver participation & community connection The class follows a predictable rhythm each week to help little ones feel grounded and comfortable as they learn. Perfect for families looking to introduce a second language early while experiencing Little Mustard Seed's community-centered environment. No prior German experience needed Come sing, move, play + grow with us.

Story Time & Creative Play

Little Mustard Seed NYC

Join us for a cozy, engaging storytime designed to spark imagination and build early learning skills. We’ll read a thoughtfully selected children’s book together, encouraging little ones to listen, participate, and connect with the story. After storytime, children will bring the book to life through a guided drawing activity inspired by what we read. This hands-on moment helps build creativity, comprehension, and self-expression in a fun, low-pressure environment. Perfect for toddlers and young children, this experience blends literacy, art, and play in a warm, community-centered setting. Parents are welcome to stay, connect, and enjoy the moment alongside their little ones.

Big Moves and Big Ideas We move big so children can think clearly, create confidently, and grow fully. We built Little Mustard Seed because kids think with their whole bodies. At our Atelier, we don't ask children to sit still and learn. We let them move to learn. The Big Moves It starts with the body. We use climbing ladders and heavy modular pods to give kids a physical outlet. When they push, pull, and climb, it does more than just tire them out. It grounds them. That big physical effort acts like a reset button, turning high-energy chaos into a calm, steady focus. The Big Ideas Once their bodies are settled, their minds are ready. That’s when we move into the studio for Big Ideas. Instead of quick crafts or paper cutouts, we use the real stuff: raw clay, charcoal, wood, and kid-friendly tools. Because they’ve already had that big physical release, they have the patience to sit down, solve problems, and really dig into what they're making. The Connection The logic is simple. The Big Moves ground the body so the mind is quiet enough for the Big Ideas. We move big so we can think clearly. We must give kids the physical strength to navigate the world and the creative confidence to shape it.
