Kids' Events in Van Nest

About kids' events in Van Nest

A quiet, residential corner of the East Bronx, Van Nest is about one square mile of detached homes, smaller apartment buildings, and local shops. It has the feel of a place where people know their neighbors, more village than city block. Van Nest Park is the go-to outdoor spot for little kids here. The playground has a railroad theme, with a spray shower for summer and equipment sized for younger children. Bronx Park runs along the western edge with more open space and paths, and the Bronx Zoo entrance sits just nearby, making it an easy add-on to any outing. Note that the Pelham Parkway-Van Nest branch of the New York Public Library is currently closed for renovations. The Morris Park branch on Morris Park Avenue is the closest open alternative. Getting around is practical: the 2 and 5 trains stop at Bronx Park East, and several bus routes run through. Morris Park Avenue and White Plains Road handle most daily errands. NYC Parks runs events here, and the eight upcoming listings on this page are a solid way to get outside with your toddler in the East Bronx.
