About kids' events in Arlington
A quiet, working-class corner of Staten Island's North Shore, Arlington sits along the Kill Van Kull waterfront, surrounded by modest rowhouses and tree-lined side streets that feel a world away from Manhattan. For families with small kids, outdoor options are the main draw. Faber Pool and Park is a short trip away on Richmond Terrace, with playgrounds, a skate park, and a waterfront outdoor pool that makes summer mornings genuinely fun. Bobbie Lewis Jr. Playground, right on Harbor Road, was rebuilt in 2022 and now has updated multigenerational play equipment alongside the basketball courts. Most of the events you'll find here are run through NYC Parks, which programs this part of the island consistently and keeps things on the calendar through the warmer months. Getting around without a car is doable, with buses running through the neighborhood and connecting to the Staten Island Ferry, but having a stroller-friendly route to the park usually means a car or a quick bus hop. Weekends in Arlington are low-key, with none of the crowds you'd expect closer to St. George. That calm is part of what makes it work with a toddler in tow.
