Improv for Seniors presented by Urban Stages - Stapleton Library

Wed, May 13 · 1:00 PM

NYPL Stapleton Branch · Stapleton

Please join us for a workshop at Stapleton Library as we host artist Urban Stages They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. Well, that all depends: has the old dog taken an improv class?! Come make new friends and new associations doing improv comedy - a craft where every bit of life experience can be leveraged to create fun, spontaneous theater. This improv class focuses on the key element of improv: “Yes and” - which means to prize whatever comes your way and add your own small addition to it. By taking creativity in very small pieces, we discover that creating fun improv scenes is within everyone’s power, and that the more life experience you have, the more fuel you have for enjoyment. You’ll learn, you’ll laugh, and you’ll see the world in a different way. Facilitated by Pat and Mary Shay Registration Required by phone or in-person. To Register: you may click "Register" above, or call (718) 727-0427 or stop by the branch during open hours to sign up in person. Audience: Adults and Seniors 50+ About Urban Stages: A non-profit organization first emerged in 1984 as Playwrights Preview Productions, founded by current Artistic Director Frances Hill. Our theater focused on giving playwrights resources to develop and produce new works. Over the years, we evolved to also address socioeconomic and geographic limitations that prevent many from engaging with art and theater. Today, Urban Stages is a name that represents exciting new theater and increased access to the arts.
