In this class, a small group of youth ages 9-13 will learn wheel throwing and handbuilding techniques from our experienced instructors. They'll learn to center and throw on the wheel, and how to prepare clay for the wheel and handbuilding. They will learn how to use the slab roller, the extruder and how to glaze thier work. Students will create several pieces over the course of the semester and will participate in group discussions about the process of making, and the history of ceramics and its context in variuos cultures. We facilitate process-based learning: we encourage kids and parents to focus on process and experimentation over finished product. PRICE INCLUDES: Unlimited studio clay, glazes, and slips. Community tools, sponges, bats, ware boards, and buckets If you require a makeup session for a missed class, we are happy to schedule the student and an adult to join us during a Saturday Family Wheel session.
