At Fashion Squad School, children are not told what to create — they are empowered to dream, design, and bring their own ideas to life. Founded by Layana Aguilar — alum of Project Runway and designer of the gown for Disney’s first Latina princess from Elena of Avalor — Fashion Squad School offers a one-of-a-kind experience that blends real-world fashion design with personal transformation. This isn’t just a class. It’s a place where creativity is taken seriously. 🧵AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM OVERVIEW September 2026 – June 2027 Ages 5–12 Our program is designed for children who love to imagine, create, and bring their ideas to life — designing pieces that are uniquely their own. Each week, students step into our studio for 2-hour immersive sessions , where they take on the role of real designers. Throughout the program, students enjoy a full creative experience that includes: -Designing and sewing their own creations -A special modeling session for their personal fashion portfolio (with hair & makeup) -Showcasing their designs in a live runway show -All materials included — everything they need is provided -Nut-free snacks during a 20-minute break -After-school pickup available from select schools (PS234, PS89, PS150, Spruce Street School) Every detail is thoughtfully designed to create a fun, inspiring, and seamless experience — where creativity grows and confidence shines. ✨ CREATIVE FREEDOM Unlike traditional sewing programs where children follow pre-cut patterns and create identical pieces… At Fashion Squad, no two designs are ever the same — because no two children are. From the very beginning, our students: -Create their own ideas -Choose fabrics they love -Make their own creative decisions Because every child is unique — and their voice deserves to be seen, heard, and celebrated. 🎨 WHAT YOUR CHILD WILL LEARN Throughout the program, students develop both creative and life skills : -Fashion illustration & design thinking -Fabric selection and textile exploration -Sewing real clothes and accessories they can proudly wear -Styling and modeling their own creations -Public speaking and self-expression -Confidence, independence, and decision-making -Students also explore: -Eco-friendly fashion -Upcycling and creative reuse 📸 THE FASHION LOOKBOOK EXPERIENCE One of the most magical parts of our program: Our students become the face of their own creations. Each child participates in a Fashion Portfolio Experience , where they: -Model their own designs -Get pampered with hair and makeup -Step into the spotlight -Capture beautiful, professional-style photos This moment changes everything. They don’t just create — 👉 they own what they create. 👗 THE FASHION RUNWAY EXPERIENCE Throughout the school year, students participate in three Fashion Cycles , each ending in a live runway show: -Fall Cycle (September–December) -Winter Cycle (January–March) -Spring/Summer Cycle (April–June) At the end of each cycle, families are invited to our Fashion Week Shows , where students proudly present their designs on the runway. Wear it. 💎 OUR POLICIES We are committed to providing a consistent, high-quality experience for every student. The following policies help us maintain that standard while ensuring fairness for all families. Tuition & Membership Tuition is billed monthly and runs continuously throughout the school year (September–June). Monthly tuition remains the same regardless of how many classes occur in a given month. Tuition is based on an average of four classes per month. Payments are automatically processed on the 1st of each month . Cancellation & Membership Changes To pause or cancel your membership, a written request must be submitted via email at least 15 days prior to your next billing date . Requests received after this window will apply to the following billing cycle. Attendance & Make-Up Classes There are no refunds or credits for missed or dropped classes once the third class of the billing cycle has taken place. Make-up classes are offered to currently enrolled students for missed sessions, based on availability , and must be scheduled in advance. Program Commitment Enrollment secures your child’s spot in a limited-capacity program. Tuition reflects the reserved space, instructor time, and materials prepared for each student. Safety & Waiver Requirement All parents or legal guardians are required to review and sign a liability waiver prior to their child’s participation in the program. Our classes involve the use of real fashion design tools, including sewing machines, needles, scissors, and other sharp instruments . While safety is our top priority and all students are closely supervised by trained instructors, minor accidents may occur . The Fashion Squad School maintains strict safety protocols and ensures staff are prepared to respond appropriately in the event of an incident. By enrolling in the program and signing the waiver, parents acknowledge and accept the inherent risks associated with hands-on creative activities. We take great care in creating a safe, supportive, and supervised environment where children can explore their creativity with confidence. Closures & Force Majeure The Fashion Squad School is not responsible for interruptions caused by circumstances beyond our control, including but not limited to: Severe weather Natural disasters Public health emergencies Government mandates Other unforeseen events (force majeure) In such cases, refunds or credits will not be issued . Government Regulations & Class Adjustments The Fashion Squad School will follow guidance from NYC public schools, local and state authorities, and federal regulations when making decisions regarding class operations. If in-studio classes must be suspended due to government mandates, or if a family chooses to withdraw, tuition adjustments, credits, or refunds will not be provided beyond the cancellation policy stated above.
