This program will be in-person. Think you’ve got the strategy to be a champion? Join Tremont Library and Young Kings & Queens Chess Club for an exclusive 10-week series designed to take your game to the next level. Whether you’re starting with the basics or refining advanced tactics, this series will guide you through openings, endgames, and strategy. It all leads up to a grand finale tournament in Week 10 (Friday June 26, 2026). This is where you can put your skills to the test for library bragging rights. Skill Level: All are welcome (from total beginners to seasoned pros). Gear: Boards and pieces provided. Goal: Level up your game and claim your spot in the tournament! Grades 6-12 encouraged to attend.

The New York Public Library partners with accredited social work colleges across the city to connect you with students who can help provide resources about social services -- housing, short-term shelter, food assistance, healthcare, and more -- in your community. During the listed hours you can drop in to meet with the student intern one-on-one (first come, first served). The Spring semester ends May 16. Check back in September for Fall semester hours. Mondays 9 AM - 12:30 PM + 4 - 6 PM Tuesdays 6:30 - 8:30 PM Wednesdays 5 - 8:30 PM Fridays 9 AM - 12:30 PM no hours May 8 Saturdays 12 - 6 PM (closed for lunch ~ 2-3 PM) 3rd Floor | Room 305 and/or Room 306 Hours are subject to change or cancellation
