About this event

This intermediate/advanced level class is ideal for students who have taken at least 3+ years of modern or contemporary classes. Students will refine and demonstrate at an advanced level: strength, control, release, groundedness, suspension, improvisation, spatial awareness, movement qualities and efforts to hone in on their individual artistic expression. Note that this is an open Dancewave Company Program class, all are welcome to join. Tiered Tuition Options: Dancewave uses a tiered tuition system in an effort to disrupt the systemic inequities that often lead to financial limitations that prevent people from accessing quality dance education. Students will continue to refine their alignment, placement, turn out, balance and coordination, while further developing their knowledge of basic body directions, musicality, and technical sequences. A fun introduction to ballet for movers of all levels! Ballet Fundamentals introduces young dancers to the joys and principles of ballet in an inclusive and supportive environment. Students will develop knowledge of and practice with ballet terminology, body alignment, appropriate turn out, coordination, and flexibility. Along with building strength and poise, students will explore their artistry through musicality and developmentally appropriate technical skills. We recommend taking this class in conjunction with our Contemporary Fundamentals/Creative Modern Ensemble offering on Tuesday's to enhance skill building, creative choice-making, and teamwork, with an opportunity for performance!
