Sky Village NYC After School Arts Program is a unique opportunity for children 4 to 8 years old to take part in weekly martial arts classes at Queens Jiu-jitsu (22-55 31st St.) and ARTS and cooking classes at Sky Village NYC! (23-05 29th St.). Inspired by the "Yin Yang Theory" in Chinese Philosophy, we believe that greater physical, mental and emotional balance can be achieved through the practice of various art forms, proper nutrition and meditation. Our children's program at our 29th St. location will largely focus on visual arts with the option to join Jiu-jitsu classes at Queens Jiu-jitsu. We will also engage in a daily 10 minute "mind break" or meditation 2- 3 times a week to help our students calm their nervous systems and steady their focus. Children should demonstrate an aptitude for drawing and painting to participate. Art methods that we will focus on include Origami, mosaic tiling/perler beading, print making, 3D drawing, painting and sewing . We feel confident with our regular after school routine your child will adopt systems for long lasting happiness and wellbeing. OUR PROGRAM Thursdays now include a 45 minutes of cooking class with nutritional information to emphasis our focus on health and wellness at Sky Village NYC. If you are registered for our After School Arts Program your child will have priority for childcare on these days. You are being charged a flat fee per week, so please take advantage of these holidays. Our parents will NOT be charged for Winter Break, Mid Winter Break or Spring Break unless registered for those camps which will be priced at $575 (8am-3pm). Sky Village NYC will be CLOSED on the following public school holidays: Thanksgiving, and the day after Thanksgiving Christmas, and the day after Christmas New Years Day, the day after New Years Day Memorial Day If any of these holidays fall on a weekend we will also be closed for: First Day of Passover Good Friday Sky Village has set expenses for each location based on attendance, consequently we do not offer refunds for personal sick days, vacation days, or “snow days”. On days when public school buildings are closed due to an emergency, all students and families should plan on staying home.
