About this event

Explore your artistic potential with Creative Aging, a series of art workshops for adults 50 and older. This program will be held in person at Richmondtown Library. Program Description: Over eight weeks, participants will experiment with text as a visual medium, producing a bound image/text inspired portfolio book. Techniques will include assemic writing, concrete poetry, collage with handmade drawings, layering discarded notes and paperwork, compositions using sticky notes, stamping and monoprinting. Students will also learn simple bookbinding methods such as the pamphlet stitch. Each session introduces a new process through artist examples such as Kameelah Janaan Rashid, Ed Ruscha, and Jenny Holzer, paired with prompts that encourage personal writing, play, and unexpected approaches.
