Inwood, NYC *Walking distance from Muscota! School pick-up from Muscota, Amistad & Washington Heights Academy DAILY FLOW 3:00 - 4:00PM Snack, creative play & homework help (we provide a healthy snack!) 4:00 - 5:30PM Class time 5:30 / 6:00PM Pick-up / Extended pick-up ($15/day) CLASS SCHEDULE Mondays: Painting Studio This class explores the elements of color, line, and shape through abstract and representational painting. Artists will develop technical skills for various types of drawing and painting tools, and learn to balance careful decision-making with allowing artistic inspiration to flow. Tuesdays: Sculpture Club Sculpture taps into young artists’ innate interest in building while exploring the elements of form, space, texture, and color. Through the design and construction of 3-dimensional artwork, artists will develop problem-solving skills and an ability to respond to the materials in front of them. Wednesdays: Toy Design This class explores the intersection of functional design and imaginative art-making through sculpture, painting, and collage techniques. In this class, artists learn to design and build toys and games that “work” and are, of course, beautifully creative and unique! Thursdays: Upcycle Art A large part of being an artist is transforming everyday materials with creativity and hard work! In this class, we’ll take materials that could be perceived as disposable and use them to create beautiful pieces of artwork. This is recycling as an art form...making jewelry, sculptures, drawings, and paintings out of everyday reusable objects! Fridays: Graphic Novels In this class, artists create their own original graphic novels from start to finish: from character design and storyboarding, to drawing and inking their panels, to adding color and binding their pages into a working book! Toddlers LOVE to touch and explore new materials. So, why not allow them to freely pour, squish, collect and sort in the messy world of the scribble studio with other artists their age? Open play is not teacher-led but we do have a Scribble teacher present to help engage your little one in the fun. Open play is great for developing socialization, fine & gross motor skills, language acquisition, an awareness of physical properties of objects and of course, just having some plain ol' early childhood fun!

Little Explorer Level 2 (Pre-K Prep)

Wed, May 13 · 8:45 AM

Fort Lee Location (Early Age Studio)

This is a Montessori-based program thoughtfully designed to prepare toddlers and preschoolers for a smooth transition into Pre-K.(Recommended 2.5 years to 4 years). It supports and stimulates your child's early development and school readiness. We use a variety of authentic Montessori materials, techniques, methods, and approaches as we encourage your child's growth in a fun and engaging learning environment. I n this program, we follow four primary areas that provide the foundation for learning and development in a Montessori classroom. Practical life activities are designed to mirror real-life experiences that children will encounter in their daily lives. The Sensorial area of the Montessori classroom is designed to develop children’s skills in perception and discrimination. It includes live music and art. The Language area of the Montessori classroom builds early literacy skills by providing varied opportunities for children to develop communication skills and phonetic awareness. The Math area of the Montessori classroom is characterized by concrete, hands-on materials that encourage children to recognize numbers and quantity. With adult-led activities, we expand and develop your child's cognitive, social, emotional, communication, fine motor, gross motor, adaptive and sensory skills. The Little Explorer Level 2 program was designed to offer our young students everything they need at their developmental stage in one place. Children all develop at different paces, and they have different strengths and interests. While in a traditional education every child in the class must follow one path set out by the teacher, a Montessori education follows the individual child's interests using observation. Every activity, including transitions between activities, facilitates exploration as we teach your child to solve problems, understand and use language, explore his or her surroundings, develop hand-eye coordination and increase attention span and memory. We also provide peer play time to encourage social interactions. New This Fall: Monthly Registration! Enjoy flexible, month-to-month enrollment—no long-term commitment required. We understand how unpredictable your little one’s schedule can be. You’ll be automatically charged on the 1st of each month. Cancel anytime—just give us notice at least one month before your next billing cycle. Make-up and cancellation policy: Make-ups are offered only for Baby Explorer Level 1, Baby Explorer Level 2 , and Little Explorer Level 1. No make-ups are provided for the Little Explorer Level 2 pre-k program and Camps .
