This event will take place in person at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library in the Mac Lab (Room 617). Orientation 101 will be held on May 15th 3-5PM and Orientation 201 will be held on May 22nd 3-5PM. You are REQUIRED to attend both classes. After attending both classes, you will be eligible to sign up for an assessment testing your knowledge of basic signal flow, types of microphones, and studio protocols. The assessment is the last step before being able to book the studio and getting your studio40 card. Registration for this class opens on 5/8 at noon. As soon as registration fills up, the waitlist will be open up until 5/15 at 2:30PM. Registration will happen through Eventbrite. Please register using this link. Studio40 is a free public recording studio available for patrons of the New York Public Library. In this two-part course, you’ll learn more about Studio40 resources and how to get the most out of your recording sessions. We’ll cover studio best practices, how to safely use the equipment available in our studio, and the practical skills you need to run a successful soundcheck and recording session at Studio40. This two-part track is required for all new studio users.
