About this event

Are you ready to take your building skills to the next level? If you're a 5th-8th grader with a passion for LEGO and creativity, this is the class for you! This class will consist of a mix of LEGO skill-building classes and LEGO challenge competition classes. What to Expect: Building Challenges: A guest judge will create and present a challenge to the builders, who will work in small teams to complete their builds. At the end of class, the teams will present their builds to the guest judge, who will pick a winner. A new guest judge for every challenge! Past guest judges have included a comic book writer, musician and podcast creator, bookstore owners, NY State Supreme Court judge, horticulturist, a jewelry designer, an illustrator, a LEGO artist, and more! Pizza and snacks provided to keep our builders fully fueled throughout the class. LEGO skill-building classes: Taught by LEGO MOC builder and artist, Andrew Van Buren of AKVB Bricks, builders will dive into the world of custom creations, explore innovative building techniques, clever color use, creative storytelling, and photography tips to bring builds to life. The class is structured to maximize hands-on learning. Following a quick lesson, Andrew will provide prompts related to the topics and builders will get right to work putting the skill into practice. Andrew will provide real-time feedback to the builders. Pizza and snacks provided to keep our builders fully fueled throughout the class! Ready to level up your LEGO game? Let's build something amazing together! About the instructor: Andrew is an award-winning LEGO MOC builder and convention regular. He's now sharing his skills through affordable kits, custom instructions, and hands-on classes. Join him to build, learn, and get inspired together! A note on the age range of the class: If you have an older or a younger child who you think would be a good fit for the class, please reach out to us to discuss. We are open to admitting students outside the age range on a case by case basis.
