Little City After School: Session I

Thu, Sep 10 · 2:30 PM

Little City Studio x Cornerstone Makerspace · Hudson Heights

Weekly Studio Schedule At Little City Studio, afterschool is more than childcare. It's a creative studio where children become artists, designers, engineers, inventors, and problem-solvers. Each week, students explore new ideas through hands-on projects that encourage curiosity, experimentation, and creative confidence in a supportive studio environment. Rather than following step-by-step crafts, children are invited to ask questions, test ideas, and discover their own solutions. Every project blends creativity with real-world thinking, giving students opportunities to build artistic skills, collaborate with others, and develop confidence through the design process. Through art, architecture, engineering, technology, and making, students build not only projects, but confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning. MONDAY | Expression Studio A process-based art studio where students explore drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, fiber arts, mixed media, and visual storytelling. The focus is on experimentation, artistic voice, and learning that mistakes often become the most interesting part of the creative process. TUESDAY | Design Studio Young designers investigate architecture, product design, fashion, model making, and spatial thinking. Students learn how ideas become objects through sketching, prototyping, building, testing, and redesigning. WEDNESDAY | Dreamineers Lab Where creativity meets invention. Students combine art, engineering, technology, robotics, science experiments, sustainability, fabrication, and imaginative problem-solving while building interactive projects that encourage innovation and collaboration. THURSDAY | Design Studio A second opportunity each week to dive deeper into architectural thinking, large-scale collaborative builds, engineering challenges, and design projects that grow over multiple sessions. FRIDAY | Studio Choice Fridays are all about following curiosity. Students choose between Expression Studio , Design Studio , or Dreamineers Lab , giving them the freedom to continue works in progress, revisit favorite materials, or dive into a completely new creative adventure. It's an opportunity to deepen interests, develop long-term projects, and end the week creating exactly where their imagination leads them. Every afternoon offers a different creative adventure, allowing students to explore a wide range of artistic, design, and engineering experiences while becoming part of a vibrant studio community where creativity is celebrated and every child belongs. Below is everything you need to know before your first session: LOCATION We’re tucked away—just enough to feel like you’ve found something special. 178 Bennett Ave Exterior Northwest Corner Garage Space New York, NY 10040 ARRIVAL Please follow the active driveway path along the north side of the historic OSA Lutheran Church. For safety, remain on the right side of the driveway while walking. PARKING Onsite parking is not available, as all spaces are reserved. Families should use nearby street parking and walk students to the entrance. For safety reasons, driving down the driveway for drop-off or pick-up is not permitted. DROP-OFF We recommend arriving 5 minutes before your session begins so families can use the restroom and check in. The studio will have scheduled bathroom breaks during class to ensure proper supervision at all times. Parents or guardians are required to walk children to the studio entrance. This helps ensure a smooth and safe arrival for all students. PICK-UP Please arrive on time at the end of class, (no longer than 10 minutes after session ends). Students will be released directly to a parent or guardian, unless prior permission has been given for a student to walk home independently. If someone new is picking up your child, they must be authorized in advance and bring valid ID for their first pickup. WHAT TO BRING All materials are provided. Please have children wear closed-toe shoes and clothes they don’t mind getting messy. Bringing a water bottle and a nut-free snack is recommended. BEFORE YOU ARRIVE We’re a paperless studio—because we’d rather use paper for making. Please complete your policy agreement and liability waiver before arrival by clicking here. If you have any questions before your visit, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help. We can’t wait to create with you!
