Skateboarding & Deck Building (Spring 2026)

📆Thu, Apr 30 · 3:15 PM
📍The Brooklyn Waldorf School · 11 Jefferson Ave, Brooklyn, NY
🏷From $780

About this event

In this exciting class, children will learn two amazing skills: how to skate and how to craft their very own skateboard deck from seven sheets of maple veneer. Each student will press, shape, and paint a custom skateboard deck, which they can use to try out their new and developing skills. Led by returning skate coach Stanton Jones, skaters of all ages and skill levels will get expert guidance to improve their abilities - whether that means learning to push, mastering an ollie or kickflip, or anything in between! Stanton, an artist with nearly 30 years of skateboarding experience, has been teaching skateboarding to children and teens for over a decade. Weather permitting, children will skate outdoors together as often as possible. Skateboarding goes beyond physical skills like falling safely, balance, coordination, core strength, and flexibility. It’s also about building self-confidence, overcoming challenges, and cultivating persistence and perseverance!
