Southside sits in the southern stretch of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, along the East River, a low-key residential mix of rowhouses, tenements, and corner bodegas. On weekends it has a slower pace than the north end of Williamsburg, which makes it easier to move around with a stroller without fighting through brunch crowds. For outdoor time, Domino Park is a short walk from much of the neighborhood and has a genuinely great playground for small kids, with a gated toddler section, water features, and East River views that make the trip worth it even on days when your toddler only wants to run in circles. Berry Street Playground, tucked between Bedford and Berry on South 3rd, is smaller and shadier, good for a lower-key afternoon when you don't want a scene. The neighborhood is flat, which helps with a stroller. The J, M, and Z trains run along Broadway to the south, giving you decent access to the rest of Brooklyn without a car.
